Rev. Jim Platten (1932-2014)

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Rev. Jim Platten, who died on Sunday 15th June, 2014.

He had been a Methodist minister for 56 years, many years serving God as he was called to do.

He had also served in our Circuit: in Brotton and as a Superintendent minister of the former Loftus Circuit, now part of Cleveland and Danby.

We will always remember him for his sense of humour and for his faith, which he was able to share around our Circuit on many occasions.

Rev. Jim’s funeral will be on Friday 27th June for close family and then at 2.00pm we are all invited to a service of Thanksgiving at Saltburn Methodist Church. Please pray for his wife Eileen and the rest of the family.

Thank you and God bless Jim.

Welcome to the brand new website of the Cleveland and Danby Methodist Circuit, a brand new venture for us!

Here you will find all the latest events and news from around the Circuit and find out more about our churches and the communities in which we serve.

We cover a vast area that takes in the rural communities of the Esk Valley in the North York Moors National Park, the stunning East Cleveland Coast as well as the town communities of Redcar and Guisborough.

We may have different ways of serving and worshipping but it is the one God whom we worship and serve, seeking to proclaim Christ in our communities.  So whether you live in the area or are visiting, you can be sure of a very warm welcome to any of our churches.

We hope you enjoy exploring this website and please contact us.
